Learning through Diversity and Equality. All aspects of social inclusion and human rights How it came about

I

n 2003 we identified that there was a lack of standards and quality benchmarks surrounding the delivery of equality and diversity services.  To rectify this in 2004 we became an NCFE accreditation and assessment centre (NCFE centre number 002319). The process to become an accreditation centre is a meticulous and rigorous one, we must ensure that all staff involved in delivery and design of standards and material are qualified, skilled and experienced in the theory and knowledge.    As a result of this we can design and deliver a portfolio of accredited programmes all with a focus on Equality and Diversity issues..

Why bother with accredited programmes?

Personally

Accreditation sets the standard for your training —and can increase your chances of promotion it also gives the edge in the job market.  If the training is accredited then you know there is a quality control system behind it.  Accredited Equality and Diversity courses are more comprehensive and consistent in terms of the content that is included.  As providers of Equality and Diversity training we wish to assure you that you are getting as high a standard of training as possible.

"In general, there's a reasonable expectation that you're going to have a better level of developed skills having gone through an accredited program,"

"It's a very big advantage on the job market."

Organisationally

In one public sector organisation, a large sum was spent in one year on diversity training. This training was never evaluated or reviewed and no one asked the questions:

   Is the content correct?

   Has it made a difference?

Because the legislation is different and goes further than ever before, surely the training must too. It must be professional, well-referenced and informed by legislation, making the difference that is needed, and the change that is required. Accredited based Equality and Diversity training does this.

Any training should be credible and reputable, adding value to the individual and organisation. Getting it wrong would be very costly e.g. loss of contracts, loss of funding or having to pay for further training; the correct training!

The Gallant2000 standards-based training means you have a consistent approach with a reliable and credible material.

An added benefit of the training programmes is the personal development that many people experience. We often hear comments such as,

‘I have not only got an award in disability equality, I have been on a personal journey and this has changed the way I view equality."

Building Blocks

The training builds from one-day programmes through to level 2 and level 4 programmes.  All the programmes use the “learn, apply, achieve” approach which has proved effective, with positive and long-lasting results.
